Educatables are a Chesterfield based 3-piece Indie band comprising of Dom Slone on bass and lead vocals, Robin Simpson on guitar and Ricky Barson on drums and vocals. They boast over 300 gigs and have played stages graced by the world’s greats (Liverpool’s Cavern Club, Sheffield’s Boardwalk, Sheffield City Hall). With both their own music and covers sets, they have gigged every location imaginable…. From pubs to nightclubs; schools to farms; competitions to festivals; hotels to tents; weddings to birthdays; and cottages to uni house parties; (Oh..and 2 “4-Gigs-In-A-Day” events in aid of Cancer Research) they are undoubtedly live performers at heart.
Away from the stage, Educatables spend their time writing their own songs in a humble pub’s spare room; aka “The Cave”. Collectively, the 3 draw influence for their own music from modern Indie bands such as Vampire Weekend, Kings Of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, The Kooks and The Strokes; as well as greats like The Beatles and Coldplay.
They have worked on their music in the studio with acclaimed producers Alan Smyth (worked on tracks with Arctic Monkeys from their 1st album) and Eliot Kennedy (Bryan Adams’ writing partner and producer).
They reached the semi-finals of the U.K’s biggest unsigned artist competition “Live & Unsigned” from 10,000 acts, and also made the Final of Derbyshire’s Band Of The Year competition.
With airplay and interviews on “Peak FM” and BBC Radio and lots of positive live performance and E.P reviews from “Derbyshire Times” newspaper, Educatables are worth a listen and a watch.
The band have big plans of expansion and promotion, so be sure to pick up a copy of their EP at any gig while they’re still free 🙂 … E-Mail us at or call manager Gary (07908 079559) to book a gig or for anything at all Educatables related x x x
