Radio Gloucestershire
On the morning of the awards 2008 both Dean and Martin were interviewed by DJ Liz Day on her Saturday Radio Gloucestershire show. The interview contains loads of info about the awards and bit of the history behind them too...
Click to listen or right click to download 01. Who are the judges?
Multi Nominated Grammy Winning Producer John Wooler and the former head of Virgin Records USA, is joined by Expert Industry Professionals and Renowned Music Artists from EMI Publishing UK, SONY, The Sneaker Pimps, Raven Black Music and The Orange County Music Awards. Asked to Judge The Songs ‘blind’, so that they can’t be influenced by Hype and are instructed to ignore the Quality of Recordings but focus instead on the Songs and Music. Their golden ears will help us decide who Wins an EMA® and also who gets offered an exclusive Artist Development Contract.
02. Why do I have to pay 15 quid for this?
It costs a lot of money to be able to Organise / Stage / Promote an opportunity like this. Hiring the venue, advertising, marketing, printing posters and flyers all costs money. This is an event for independent musicians and it should also be supported by them. £15 is about the cost of a round in yer local pub ... which is the better investment in your music career. NOTE: this is more a statement of commitment, as the awards are still heavily subsidised by supporting label Raven Black Music.
03. How do I know this is not just an industry rip off?
The above mentioned people would hardly be involved if it was. They all have impeccable reputations to preen and maintain. This is NOT a glorified Battle of the Bands, where the more people you bring the more likely you are to win, nor is it Pay-to-Play, as our subsidised Registration Admin Fee is a fraction of what it costs to run the Awards.
04. What do I win?
Some of the best Winners & Nominees will be selected for various Touring opportunities and considered for an Artist Development Contract, see: Why you should enter! and Artist & Fan Info Page.
You will also be presented with a unique framed piece of art, designed by young students inspired by music, to commemorate your achievement.
This event and the surrounding activities is designed to be a Music Career Steppingstone for everyone involved and there will be lots of activity following the Awards like Live Awards Videos and Winners / Nominees / Escapees promo CDs sent out to Industry, along with any other opportunities which occur to help develop the artists involved, so Register now.
05. How can I perform at the show?
Most of the performers on the night of the awards will be the winners from the previous year’s event, but we also select some wild card entries from among the artists who Register for this year.
They will represent a cross section of the musical community of South Central Britain and Beyond and sooner you enter, the better chance you have of being selected to play the Awards ceremony.
Keeping your Free Artist Profile on Tourdates.Co.UK up to date is the best way of increasing your chances of being selected to play both for the awards and for our Promoter contacts at other Events.
06. What if I am from further away than 75 miles?
07. Where can I get Tickets?
