01. Who are the judges?
John Wooler is a multi Grammy nominated producer. Joe Wilson is a former member of renowned UK Indie Rockers The Sneaker Pimps and now the chair of music studies at the University of Gloucestershire. Martin Brown is the producer of more than twenty shows similar to this, in California and Canada, including The Orange County Music Awards. Peter Moore is an award winning music journalist. These gentlemen will be joined by one more Surprise Industry Judge, before the big day itself, check news page.
02. Why do I have to pay 10 quid for this?
It costs a lot of money to be able to stage an opportunity like this. Hiring the venue, advertising, marketing, printing posters and flyers all costs money. This is an event for independent musicians and it should be supported by them. Ten quid is about three pints of beer in yer local, which is the better investment in your musical future?
03. How do I know this is not just an industry rip off?
The above mentioned people would hardly be involved if it was, they all have impeccable reputations to preen and maintain; also, if it was a rip off, we would charge a lot more than ten quid, now wouldn’t we?
04. What do I win?
There are no prizes. You will be presented with a framed piece of art (not a crappy certificate!) We are actually organizing a contest among local colleges to produce the artwork. Prizes are usually a bit lame, like a day’s recording time (not enough to set up the drums). However, some of the best of the winners will be selected for various National Touring Opportunities and considered for Recording and Publishing.
05. How can I perform at the show?
In future years the performers will be the winners from the previous year’s event. This year we will select performers from among the artists who submit. They will represent a cross section of the musical community of South Central Britain. The sooner you enter, though, the better chance you have of being selected to play at this inaugural event!
06. What if I am from further away than 75 miles?
We hope to expand to other regions later this year and next, but we need your support to do this, so let every Independent artist you know based in South Central Britain know about the Awards!
07. Where can I get Tickets?
Tickets will be available via the University of Gloucestershire Student Union.
