Singer Songwriter FIN artfully blends Acoustic Rock with a Folk / Country Vibe to create a stunningly original yet familiar sound.

FIN’s interest in music certainly came from his parents; even before he was born his mum was beaming Bob Dylan directly into his brain via headphones on her tummy. FIN grew up in Hertfordshire and as a child his parents took him to festivals; particularly the London Feis where he first saw Dylan and ‘Van the Man’ aged 7. These formative experiences shaped his desire to listen to and eventually write music himself. He started Spanish guitar lessons about the same time and wrote his first song Distant Youth, at the tender age of 13, a title that must seem ironic to him now.

FIN’s teens brought him closer to the excitement of live music as he discovered artists outside of his parents’ record collections. A friend’s mum worked on Top of the Pops, he would often go backstage, meeting REM was the first time he would recall being “star struck”. FIN’s dad worked in the British Film Industry as a painter and over the years FIN also met a lot of film faces, Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Roger Moore and Matt Damon to mention a few. These influences led him to develop parallel interests in film and music.

FIN formed his first band Captain Davenport aged 17. They gigged around London at the Bull and Gate, Horn Re-Born, Covent Garden Rock Garden and local pubs. On Millennium New Year’s Eve they were paid to perform for BBC staff in the Top of the Pops Green Room, playing originals and covers. Then at Bristol University as Vice President of Churchill Hall he ran a Drum and Bass night and FINs Acoustic Café, a popular showcase for student talent. He booked acts including Shola Ama and Derren Brown.

After graduating FIN wrote and directed a short film called The Telephone staring British-American actor Philip Winchester, known for his roles in The Patriot, Thunderbirds, CSI: Miami, King Lear, Flyboys and Fringe. The film featured FIN’s music compositions and was screened at the Curzon in Soho.

FIN established a film and animation company called Previsualisation Ltd; He won the Creative East Awards Best Non-Broadcast Production 2007 for an educational DVD read by Tony Robinson. Around the same time he made a music video for Jamaican Reggae legend Dawn Penn for her track ”Never Hussle the Music”.

Since 2005 FIN has worked from Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire. Big artists go there to rehearse for their tours, for FIN it’s an inspiration to know that Biffy Clyro, Westlife, Take That or Pink Floyd are sometimes just meters away. In 2006 FIN met Peter Waterman and Simon Cowell at Elstree when they gave Simon a plaque to commemorate his achievements in the music industry.

In 2011 FIN decided it was time to really focus on songwriting and performing so he formed a band to record and released his début album, These Words Aren’t Meant For Me, through his label Written Records.

FIN’s music blends the Acoustic, Folk & Alternative Rock traditions to create a stunningly original yet familiar sound. FIN is now playing open mic nights around the country and the band is entered into Surface Festival 2012; their first round gig is on 28th Feb at 229 The Venue in Great Portland Street.

“Do you know the rock ‘n’ roll the best of this world ooh shit…” (D.C.V., Bogota, Colombia)

“The music is just unique, inspiring, soul lifting and encouraging. I would kindly request if it is possible 4 ur band to fix kenya in one of ur tours. People in kenya really love ur music” (W.R.M., Kenya)

“Are your bandmates genetically related to Guns ‘n’ Roses, best, D.” (D.G.H., UK)

“The UK Songwriting Contest Semi-Finalist Certificate awarded to Barbie Hardrock & Thomas M. Perry for the Song ‘Our Fists Against The Dirty Biz’. This is to certify that ‘Our Fists Against The Dirty Biz’ was a Semi-Finalist in the Rock category in the UK Songwriting Contest 2011.”

“With an 80’s rock feel and a dash of rockabilly and blues, Rocquette creates a unique and refreshing sound that is made even more so by Barbie Hardrock’s wonderfully energetic vocal delivery. (…) While listening to 13, one can’t help but want to see this band play live, which is unusual. Listeners rarely get a good feel for what a band would sound like live based on a studio recording, but with Rocquette, their vibe is so full of energy that this could conceivably be a live album. (…) This band has attitude, they like to have fun, and most of all, they enjoy making music and they do it exceedingly well.” (Rhonda Readence, Reviewyou.com)

On Sunday March 18th, A.J Moore will be releasing his debut album ‘Harmonics’ under FCL Recordings. A.J Moore is an artist of the highest calibre who has performed in some of the world’s most famous venues from The Royal Albert Hall in London to the People’s Theatre in Shanghai. He has earned the respect from his music industry peers and the admiration of fan forums while performing as guitarist for number 1 selling classical artists Hayley Westenra, Laura Wright, Jonathan Ansell, Lee Mead and Faryl Smith. Now he is set to embark on his own artistic vision.

Harmonics is a pop rock endeavour that is infused with musical elements from classical, modern jazz, soul and blues. Originally from Carlisle, England, A.J’s classical training and formal education at Leeds College of Music equip him with the tools to compose music beyond the standard chord progressions already exhausted by many of his top selling contemporaries. Harmonics is a product of A.J’s relentless work ethic and broad musical vocabulary. He has created an energetic and sophisticated sound both instrumentally and vocally. The lyrical content is no less captivating discussing a wide range of themes and emotions from failed relationships, work, the environment and bullying, to self-doubt and love.

Written, performed, recorded and produced by A.J, Harmonics was completed in mid 2011. While most instrumental parts and vocals were performed by A.J, Harmonics benefited from the contributions of legendary acid jazz musician Jan Kincaid, drummer of ‘The Brand New Heavies’, and writer of songs like ‘Never Stop’ and ‘Dream On Dreamer’. The strings were supplied by members of Classic FM favourites ‘The Pavao Quartet’, bass and piano moments by the respected session musician Al Gurr and a couple of electrifying solos by top jazz guitarist, Jamie McCredie.

What is unarguably unique about Harmonics is that it is comprised of material that makes for a thrilling live concert experience. Coupled with the fact that the band consists of top session musicians, A.J Moore is evoking an audience response that is igniting a booking-frenzy amongst London promoters.

A.J has performed in several international venues worldwide and like Bruce Springsteen, Prince and Dave Matthews Band, he knows intuitively how to work an audience, whatever the size. In the recording studio, he plays every note with depth and feeling, and delivers lyrics with a passion and intensity that draws you in. Add to these skills a playful wit that is truly British, A.J is poised to become a great musical export.

Harmonics was mixed by A.J and Santi Arribas (The Mixing Factory) and was mastered at Metropolis Studios. The three songs deemed as fan favourites are ‘Moving On’, ‘Take It All Away’ and ‘Dreaming’. Moving On, which was briefly released for free download via the official unsigned UK music chart, held its top 10 position for 11 weeks with no promotion. Consequently, it is scheduled for a single release February 26th at a stellar charitable event in honour of the Scots Guards at one of London’s premier live haunts, ‘The Troubadour’. Further events and festival performances are being lined up for 2012. For current confirmed gig listings go to www.ajmooremusic.com.

Take It All Away, a conservation awareness song, written in honour of Sir David Attenborough, will be raising money for charities personally recommended by him. Furthermore, A.J was invited by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to perform at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit (COP15).

Harmonics is only the beginning. A.J has already completed recording a second acoustic album titled ‘Stripped’ at the studio of Gang of Four founder and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers producer, Andy Gill. ‘Stripped’ is due for release later in 2012. Furthermore, with A.J’s constant output of new songs, a third band album is scheduled for recording later in the year.

His live band are not only dear friends but like A.J, world class touring musicians who have played for Adele, Beyonce, Noel Gallagher, Robbie Williams, Bryan Adams, LSO, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Michael Jackson’s Thriller Live, and Kid Creole to name a few. His material is known to many musicians to fill in when schedules don’t align.

So, 2012 is already promising to be A.J’s best year to date. The material is ready, the drive to perform live is insatiable and his vast network of industry-recognised musicians is at the ready to thrill audiences worldwide.

Fans can keep up to date with performances, interviews, sessions, TV appearances, and new releases by visiting A.J’s website www.ajmooremusic.com and the social networking pages. There are elements of our music influenced by Guns n Roses, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Veil Brides, WASP, Falling In Reverse, HIM etc. This is what gives us our “unique” flavour. We have managed to mix Extreme Metal music with Mainstream Rock music, in a similar way that bands such as Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach, mixed Rock music with Rap music, which in turn, gives us our “unique” style. Our current fan base is rather diverse; when we started out, we believed that our fan base would be made up of traditional Metal Head fans. However, recently, we have discovered that our fans are coming from a much broader base. We have fans contacting us from all walks of life, genres and ages. We see new fans coming from every taste; we believe this to be the case, because our music has a message and a meaning. Since we started as a band, we have noticed that due to our individual experiences, as a group we have matured at a rapid rate. Initially, we started off playing one or two small gigs as the opportunity arose. This soon changed, to playing bigger venues on a weekly/biweekly basis. One of our favourite venues is the White Swan in our hometown of Aylesbury.
We have played at some interesting venues, such as Bedford’s Corn Exchange and at a church in Southcourt- Aylesbury, The Bridgehouse 2 in London, The Crawford Arms in Milton Keynes and many more.
Our biggest adventure so far, has to be the “Live and Unsigned “ music competition: back in February, we participated in the first round of the competition, that boasts a judging panel consists of Noddy Holder, Annie Nightingale from BBC1 and Alex Baker from Kerrang. The first round was a very tense event for us; however, we managed to pull together and win a place in the regional finals. This took place on the April the 2nd, at Bedford’s Corn Exchange and was a much better experience for us! As a band, we found that we had fully matured, but the icing on the cake had to be the way that such new and diverse audience accepted us; it felt as if everything had gelled together! The judges put us through to the semi finals with an encouraging review and we didn’t have to rely on the public vote! As an unexpected bonus, we also won the regional finals Exposure award! We played the final at the 02 in london and won the blog award which is £500 worth of studio recording time. Our joint goals are to acquire international acclaim and to convert people to our sound.
