Brendan is emerging on the burgeoning folk scene with an impassioned set
of widely influenced folk songs. His rousing vocals are complimented
by the accompaniment of strings, woodwind and brass.

He recorded his first set of demos with Grammy winner Dom Morley (Amy
Winehouse, Adele, The Police, Mull Historical society..) who approached
him after seeing him play a solo show in London. On the back
of these demos he then went on to secure some great support slots with
the likes of the Magic Numbers, Madison Violet and Joel Plaskett.

ABOUT:
Oscar Rodrigues, born 24th August, 1982 in Luanda Angola. Music has always been a part of his life, from young he has been a big fan of the late Great Michael Jackson. He then moved to England with his mother in 1994 were he was thrown in the deep south west of London’s crowded concrete jungle, where he gained a passion for DnB, Garage and Hip-Hop. He knew then that he wanted to be part of the new urban movement being created on the streets of London by the So Solid Crew, which Oscar knows well and to become a rapper/mc just like his favorite artist the NOTORIOUS B.I.G. With new born responsibilities in late 2008, OSCAR decided to move to Cornwall and set up a promotion company called Nu leaf Promotionz ltd, were he successfully put on events in the summer of 2009 in Newquay with the help of friends and family. Donating some of the profits to local charities e.g. Joe way, Tanya’s Courage Trust, and Precious Lives Appeal. With the ambition of becoming an artist himself Oscar, Dhruv, and Bradley formed a group called Nuleaf Disciples, and they took the south west by storm with their original UK Grime and Hip-Hop sound, and with their new single “GET TO KNOW YA” . A big hit for the summer…..!!!!! After sometime he decided to make a break from the Nuleaf Desciples and go it alone. Then in 2011 Oscar approached Alive Music Studios (based in Wadebridge, Cornwall) to record a demo CD of his songs, but little did he know that when he walked through the doors of Alive Music that this would change his life and walk out of Alive Music with a record publishing deal under Alive Music Records label. Now with his new song release called “My Town” along with the ringtone available on iTunes, also the video release on Channelaka TV is now making headway in the music business. He is currently working on old and new songs to be released over the coming months, including a remix of a Song called Tweet Back original written by Wiley Artist.

LIVE PERFOMANCE:
OD performs to under 18s and over 18s audiences. You may well notice that some of the songs listed for listening are explicit, but like Eminem, OD is versed if singing his songs without explicit words using special microphone vocal techniques. OD has performed in front of children and adults and always goes down with cheers and wanting more! OD’s songs all have rhyme and reason and are meaningful, he is always enthusiastic, lively and connects with his audience. The Burning Crows… A Power Train of Rock rolling straight out of the east of England to you, your town and anyone else looking for a good time.

From May 2010, The Burning Crows have taken their home region by storm, played up and down the country, and with planned tours of Europe in 2011, they’re going all the way to live up to their reputation as “The UK’s hottest new band” (BBC). You Bring Me Dead Flowers

What better way to start than to tell you all about our project-in-progress: ‘You Bring Me Dead Flowers’

It has always been our ethos that if you can’t sit down and do a rendition of a song with just an acoustic guitar then it’s not a song worth pursuing. The album has been recorded with this idea firmly in mind. We’ve stripped the music right back to let the songs, the lyrics and ideas, really shine through. The core of every song on the album is one acoustic guitar and vocals; we’ve kept them as simple and, indeed, as pure as possible. It’s very different to anything we’ve attempted before but we’re more excited about this recording project than we’ve been about anything.

Echoing across the album is a real late 50’s/early 60’s ‘doowop’ feel. With upfront strings dancing in and out and layered vocal harmonies we’ve really borrowed from what we feel was a golden age of songwriting. Coupled with this is a very Motown-esque attitude to music: the 2 and half minute pop song. It is no coincidence that there were a lot of Shirelles songs being played in the house at the time of writing/recording. The vocals on the tracks too mimic the likes of Shirley Owens in their naieve-sounding, pure tone. With the stripped back nature of the new tracks it is not just the songs that stand out but Kitty’s vocals too that really sparkle. Kitty has developed a much softer, fragile voice in tackling these songs; a far cry from the Debbie Harry influenced sounds of previous albums.

Perhaps the most exciting thing for us about this album is the collective of Tavistock’s best musicians who have so kindly agreed to be Lost Boys and work their magic on our music. Fiddle players, pianists, singers, harpists, guitarists and percussionists (lots of ‘ists’!) have collaborated with us over the past 6 months in the studio and it’s been so exciting to have the input of the best local players.

We’ve been recording at Aardvark Studios in Sourton (where indeed we recorded ‘Losing The Habit’ back when Kitty was just 12!) with the brilliant Jeff Boxall. ‘All Over You’, title track of the album, was recorded at the world-famous Sawmill Studio in Cornwall. The whole album is going to Mark Sheppard of Fierce Kitten Records for mixing input which we’re very pumped about as he has a Midas’ touch when it comes to adding that extra something.

We expect to finish the album in it’s entirety in the early summer

Kayla Kavanagh is a solo artist with a difference. The Yorkshire-based Singer/Songwriter plays nine instruments, writes and performs her own original music and has toured the UK with her ‘one-woman band’ show at venues across the UK including three years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Kayla has launched her debut album Stranger than Fiction, featuring twelve original songs with her trademark fusion of the traditional and modern – an eclectic mix of electronica pop/rock with hints of Imogen Heap, Eva Cassidy and Sarah McLachlan.

Kayla moved from Ireland to Yorkshire to study an MA in Digital Performance in 2006, where she began introducing ‘live looping’ into her performances, allowing her to play numerous instruments simultaneously.

Her live stage shows feature piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, looping pedal, hammered dulcimer, electric violin, flute, tin whistle, vocoder and Eigenharp Pico/Alpha.

Working with local Barnsley Engineer/Producer Nigel Pease, the energy and diversity of Kayla’s vocal and instrumental music from her shows has been captured in the studio release. Kayla’s album is the world’s first to feature the Eigenharp, a new electronic device which plays and loops multiple software instrument sounds.
